he exhibition “Awangarda to petarda” illustrates the scope of the impact of avant-garde on the creation of contemporary artists. All works presented in the exhibition are rooted in various trends of 20th century art, however they are different from their predecessors, as they have a bilateral character. The artists use staple avant-garde motifs, yet they still place their objects in the context of novel references. As an effect of such an operation the meaning of a given symbol thus far is transformed – and a new, hitherto unknown quality appears in its place. The autotelic formalism has been incorporated into the existential and social subject matter.

The exhibition is a part on Main Program of Cracow Gallery Weekend KRAKERS 2017: Directions of tension.

The exhibition is opened from 21st of April to 2nd of June, from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m
