ABOUT EXHIBITION

Opening: 14th October, 6 p.m.
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 10 a.m-6 p.m

The exhibition “Liberation/Wyzwolenie” shows the latest paintings, installations and objects by Sławek ZBIOK Czajkowski – the artist inspired over the years by the American hip-hop scene and streetart. His works fit perfectly into the mainstream postgraffiti, whose representatives go far beyond spraying the walls. They are trying to reach new forms of expression and draw them from the living culture of the Internet. The paintings of Czajkowski often reminiscent of the aesthetics of the network and digital images, but like his works in public space, they stand in opposition to the mainstream and remains critical of the popular culture and consumerism.
‘Czajkowski’s reflection did not come out of nowhere, he puts himself in the number of people seeking liberation. Most of the images tell stories experienced by the artist. Breaking with the image of the streetart painter was a liberation for Czajkowski. When all associated his nickname with streetart and his murals became the most valued, the artist made a jump to the side. He didn’t stretch legs in the chair waiting for the next, probably better, projects. He decided to move away from the wall and focus on painting easel. Czajkowski calls such behavior “a volta”, although the word “liberation” fits here as well. These “voltas”, slightly smaller, in the area of design and painting form, was frequent in his career. This can be seen on the latest exhibition, which drifts farther and farther away from the style he used a few years ago.’ (Alek Hudzik)
