Who is Justina? Is she a collector of experiences co-creating the night scene of the clubs of London, Ibiza, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Florence? A contemporary heroine of the Łotrzykowska story? Master jouissance? Absolute Lulu? The perfect lover? Or maybe just a Polish woman trying to find her place in London?
The previous project of Magda Buczek, "Justina is", shown at Łódź Art Center as part of Fotofestiwal 2010, presented a travel diary - fragments of unusual correspondence, which the heroine sends to her artist from her trips. Objects, photos, statuses on Facebook and the film were testimony to vital energy, eroticism and glamours against adversities.
The exhibition at Art Agenda Nova shows the second project dedicated to Justin. This time, the artist looks at Justine as a figure in perspective - the lens, the literary context, but also the time, which as cousins and friends from childhood spent together, and which now begins to irrevocably separate them.
The literary context is "Justyna i spółka", i.e. diva and its adventurous partners - Moll Flanders, Lulu and Fanny Hill. They share a passion for adventures and masquerades and London as their scenery. From the maps, graphs, fragments of texts and photos a portrait emerges, whose heroine turns back to us. We can meet Justin, but we will not know anything about her.
An addition to the project is placed in the club Bomba on pl. Szczepański's display with texts from the Facebook profile of the heroine. Short teaser:
w Bombie możecie już oglądać teaser do wystawy, a po wernisażu będą tam promocyjne drinki!!!
