About gallery
Since 2002 we have run the contemporary art gallery Art Agenda Nova, created exhibitions of young promising artists, accompanied in their artistic development and organized contemporary art auctions. In 2006 we also started East of Art foundation, which promotes contemporary art in a wider – European, especially Central & East European, context. We cooperate with the best cultural institutions in Poland. In cooperation with the City of Krakow we initiated ArtBoom – Festival of Visual Arts, one of the biggest events in the field of art in public space in Poland. Thanks to this event works by Mirosław Bałka, Jenny Holzer, Pipilotti Rist, Erwin Wurm and BLU’s mural all emerged in Krakow. We also initiated social initiatives such as Urban Design project. Our goal is also to put an emphasis on animation and integration of gallery’s circles within Cracow Gallery Weekend Krakers – our youngest project.
Cracow Gallery Weekend Krakers organized since 2012, is a project promoting contemporary art in the space of the city of Krakow. Inspired by similar events around the world, the event has reached a new, absolutely individual quality, focused on discovering and facilitating the development of contemporary art market. We cooperate with major galleries and independent centres of artistic activity in order to challenge the stereotype of Krakow being aesthetically conservative.
A strong point of the Art Agenda Nova is its programme. We organize the exhibitions of painting, video, photography and installations. As we declared at the beginning, we consequently follow our chosen path as a “first touch/contact gallery”, guiding artists from the very beginning of their career. Based on the strict selection of artists, our choices are highly regarded by curators, critics and heads of cultural institutions. This is the foundation of our credibility. We are constantly trying to combine an ambitious gallery programme and interesting art projects with commercial activities, thus popularizing contemporary art and developing the art market. Works from our gallery can be found in many private collections both in Poland and abroad. There are also part of museum collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow (MOCAK) and the National Museum in Krakow.
Thanks to actions taken on so many levels, we have gained vast experience in the field of culture and art. We personally met and introduced the most interesting artists who began their career in Krakow: Tomek Kowalski, Agnieszka Polska, Norman Leto and Łukasz Surowiec. Their current achievements are presented in the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. We have proved to be a great starting point for many débutants. Those achievements would not have been possible without the knowledge of situation of Polish artists, a good sense of the art market and also the technical knowledge related to the rules of international art market, new ideas, trends in art and art criticism.
Another important aspect of our activity is deeply combined with education. Through lectures, meeting and debates we are trying to expand the space of public dialogue on the subject of contemporary art and young artists nowadays. We created program of postgraduate studies on the subject of contemporary art market and its tools, the role of art dealers in Poland and abroad.
All of our activities are very important for realization of our aims. Multitasking and constant development are essential for Art Agenda Nova.
Art, in times of economic crisis, has become an alternative and safe capital investment. This trend is strongly present in the international market as experienced by Polish artists abroad. This offers great opportunities to invest in art which could be also seen as a way of building positive social image.
